Boon Siew Honda unveils Vario 150 Scooter + First Ride

The invitation reads as “Sporty design and performance to match” – the first thing that came to mind was the latest launch is the eagerly-awaited Honda CBR250RR sportsbike? This sets the adrenaline rushing, and the excitement grew further as the date got nearer. As it turned out, the new motorcycle in question wasn't even the CBR250RR at all but a new automatic transmission (AT) model aka the Honda Vario 150 scooter.

Nonetheless, the new Vario 150 turns out to be even better than the previous Honda Air Blade 125 scooter, as there was a first impression ride for the media to have a first experience to learn about the bike's handling and performance. More on this later.

With features such as the Honda SMART key system, and powered by a 150cc 4-stroke engine with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology, equipped with Combi Brake System (CBS), the Vario 150 gives better overall performance, fuel efficiency and safety to the rider and the pillion. With a combination of sporty style, unstoppable performance and value-for-money features, the new Vario 150 is an ideal option for bikers who seek a complete package in an AT Model. Having understood the market demand, Boon Siew Honda saw great potential in the AT segment and decided to provide more options to Malaysians by introducing the Vario 150. The advanced safety features of Honda AT Model provide peace-of-mind, while the automatic transmission makes them easy to handle. Other than the safety features and maneuverability, there is also an increased interest towards Honda bikes with higher cc amongst Malaysian riders. The Vario 150 is powered by a 150cc liquid cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine that spools up an impressive 13.1hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.4 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Riders will surely be able to enjoy the dynamic performance of the new Vario 150 to a whole new level.

Other notable of the new Vario 150 are the Dual LED Headlight and LED Taillight, LCD Digital Meter Panel, Honda SMART Key System, Sporty Style Muffler with Aluminum End Cap, 14-inch Sporty Wheel with Wavy Disc Brake, 18-litre Under Seat Compartment and Double Inner Rack. Boon Siew Honda has also taken into account the safety concerns with the design as the new model is equipped with a Combi Brake System (CBS) that helps to balance the braking system across the front and rear wheels to reach to an optimal standard.

Set to be the trendsetter in the AT segment, the Vario 150 is available in four colour options, which are Pearl Magellanic Black, Pearl Nightfall Blue, Force Metallic Silver and the Repsol edition. The Vario 150 scooter is available now from all authorized Boon Siew Honda dealers, and comes with the usual 2-year or 20,000km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first). In conjunction with the National Day celebration, a series of exclusive and unique Vario airbrushed with the flags of the nation and 13 states of Malaysia will be hitting the roads across Peninsular Malaysia.

The first impression test ride on the Vario 150 sure did amaze me, and it's definitely better and more agile than the previous Honda PCX 150 AT. The Vario 150 could accelerates better and smoother, at the same time it is able to negotiates most corners easily and faster too without the need to apply its combined braking, provided there's no slow traffic in front of it.
